Hi, my name is Chancho. I came to the shelter because I grew too big. I was supposed to be a small dog, but quickly exceeded expectations. As young as I am, I’m the kind of dog that does not stop going! I love to play and run. I’m very active and need lots of play time to help expend my energy. A very sturdy fenced in yard will be a must with me. It is important that my new family want to spend a lot of time with me, as that is the only way to expend my energy. A romp in the yard by myself will not be sufficient. If you are looking for a jogging partner, I’m your buddy! I don’t have many boundaries, and the more excited I become the fewer boundaries I respect. I love to jump up on people, dogs, and furniture. The more overstimulated I become the more I mount people, animals, and furniture. I love to play and will play great with all kinds of toys. I will also invent toys, and often decide that your hands, arms, cloths, or hair makes a great toy. When I see someone I want to meet on a walk I can pull very hard on the leash in my attempt to greet them. However, my greetings are often a little too boisterous to the liking of strange people or dogs. I need an owner who is prepared to work with me on these manners. Making a game of it is the best way for me to learn some self-control. A good and rigorous training game can also be very exhausting, which will help meet my need for exercise. I’m not yet house trained, but am crate trained. I love treats and am very smart, so it shouldn’t be too hard to house train me. It is important that the training is consistent, though, to help me understand. I should do great in a home without children. I’m a very large and strong dog, so everyone in the home needs be capable of handling my lack of boundaries and my play habits. I really like my food and need to be left alone when eating. I have not been around cats. I have been around other dogs and done well, but any other dogs in the home will need to be tolerant of my play style and able to withstand my rambunctiousness. If you have a canine friend at home, please bring them to the shelter to meet me to be sure we are compatible. I am already neutered, microchipped, frontlined, rabies vaccinated, started on my vaccinations. Will you be my forever family?
