How To Adopt

3 SIMPLE STEPS TO ADOPT

1.  Stop On By
All visitors must fill out an application at the shelter and be approved prior to meeting the animals. See the "Get Ready" Section below to make sure you are fully prepared!  If you fill out an application but don't find a new best friend the day you come visit, that's okay! We will keep your approved application for 90 days.

2.  Meet Your Match
Adoptions are completed in person on a first-come, best matched basis. No appointment is needed for animals at the Adoption Center. Come walk the kennels and select your furry friend. If you have a current dog in the house you will be required to bring them for a staff-lead introduction,  please see the "Get Ready" section below.

3.  Welcome Your New Pet Home
Found your match? You're ready to sign the adoption contract! Usually you will bring your new family member home the same day. We'll give you all the information you need to help make the transition successful!

Get Ready
Prep Yourself
  • Fill out an application at the shelter to become an approved visitor
  • Bring your photo ID
  • Bring a secure way to transport your new BFF home (a carrier for cats or small animals and a harness/collar and leash for dogs)
    • You may bring your own, or you may purchase from our retail area, where 100% of the proceeds benefit the animals at the shelter.
  • Please account for time
    •  We do require minimum of 20 minutes spent with an animal before any adoption will be processed.  The 20 minutes must be completed half an hour before close.
Dog Introductions
If you have current dogs in the home you are required to bring them for a staff-lead introduction. Our staff will help introduce them to ensure it's a good fit for the whole family.

Adoptable dogs are not put " on hold" while waiting for an introduction. You must bring your pet with you when you come to meet the adoptable dog.   Please leave your dog in your vehicle while you browse our available dogs.   All dogs must be on a leash,  please no retractable leashes.
Off Campus Animals
Some pets are in foster homes. These pets will have that indicated in their profile with contact information to set up a visit.
