Hi, I'm Legacy! Stick with me, this is a long story.

I came to the shelter as a stray in very rough shape. I've spent the past few months overcoming many obstacles and recovering! I'm still working on getting better, but would really prefer to continue my growth in a forever home. Because I came to the shelter as a stray, no one knows exactly what I went through, but I'm looking forward to a bright future. I can get a bit leary of strangers, especially when I am out on a walk. I am very vocal about my concerns and can be a bit intimidating, as even as a young pup I have a nice baritone bark.

I do warm up to women far faster than men. It is important that my new family be prepared for the long haul of helping me continue my impressive recovery. I will need lots of patience and gentleness while I learn about all the awesomeness the world has to offer. Because I was drastically underweight when arriving at the shelter, I tend to really like my food and can be a little defensive of it. I really, really love being pet and having all the attention. When walking on a leash, I will sometimes stop in front of my person and lean into their legs for some attention; I apologize ahead of time if I accidentally trip you!

I would do best with supervised children who are at least 13+ years or older. Children need to understand my unique perspective on life so far and respect my boundaries. Right now I am moderately energetic, but as I continue to learn trust and am comfortable, it is likely I will become more energetic and require more exercise.

Are you the special family that has the time and determination to help me create a lasting future?
